Cermaq leads exports of cultivated Chilean salmonids
IndexSalmon reported between January-November 2018 exportations of cultivated Chilean salmonids (Atlantic and Coho salmon and rainbow trout) increased by 22.8% (565,972 tonnes), compared to the same period in 2017.
In terms of value, the industry sent out US$4.66 billion worth of salmonids, a 11.5% increase from last year. This despite average price drops to US$8.24/kg.
The United States continues as the largest export market, followed by Japan then Brazil.
Cermaq Chile is once again the leading producing company, exporting 65,914 tonnes, equivalent to US$480 million. Cermaq is followed by AquaChile Companies and Multiexport Foods.
