Constructing the largest salmon farming wellboat in the world

Cemre Shipyard has published a photo of the wellboat “Ronja Storm” under construction on their Facebook page. The wellboat is expected to be completed in a few months and will be the largest vessel destined to operate for the salmon industry. Havyard, the company in charge of constructing the wellboat, revealed that investments total US$54 million.

The vessel is 116 meters (m) long and 23 m wide, with a capacity to hold 7,450 m3 of water to store fish, more than double that of large wellboats currently in operation.

It will be able to transport 5,000 m3 of freshwater.

Solvtrans has ordered “Ronja Storm” and will send it to the salmon farming company Huon Aquaculture in Tasmania, Australia.
