Early Warning still in effect for harmful algae in southern Chile
The Harmful Algae Studies Center (CREAN) of the Fisheries Promotion Institute (IFOP) delivered their new report corresponding to the period between January 12 to 16 of this year. The report measures the relative abundance of the species Alexandrium catenella, associated oceanographic data, and the state of alert for the sample area in Aysén Region.
CREAN reported that during their last crossing, relative abundance estimations at the sample stations in southern Aysén greatly increased compared to the last expedition.
For this reason, the institute is maintain the Early Warning alert for the entire area for Harmful Algae Blooms (HABs).
