Southern tradition and marine-inspired cuisine: A weekend panorama

During the summer months, a journey along the costumbristas festival route in southern Chile is obligatory. This weekend, different areas and towns will offer seafood tastings, typical foods, live music, and ancestral southern traditions.

Activities will take place in Cochamó at 10:00 am on Saturday February 9 with a journey along the Reloncavi Fjord. In Castro on February 9 and 10, the residential area Llau-Llao hosts local foods stands and cider making. On February 9 and 10, Ancud is holding a festival with a preparation of the traditional dish curanto, a feast of seafood and meats cooked underground. The city of Valdivia (Los Rios Region) will offer kayak tours through the area’s numerous rivers and wetlands.
