Juan Carlos Castilla, Dr. in Marine Biology
“We must recognize that we have a serious problem”
Castilla is acknowledged worldwide for his knowledge on sustainable management of marine resources. He anticipates that if the current fishing rate continues, the seas could be left without any fish before 2048.
In April Castilla was awarded the acknowledged BBVA Foundation international prize and on May 11 he was one of the speakers at an important conference on climate change where he presented concepts like that “our generation, the baby boomers, is the one that accelerated climate change” and that “we must transmit knowledge to children in a more rapid, accurate manner”.
